What's in your mental loft?

I've been thinking about the loft in my house recently, as I can't actually get through the loft hatch as it's too tiny, and so therefore items that would normally be stored up there, are currently under beds and in cupboards. But, in my old house, I had a lot of stuff stored in the loft. Boxes and boxes of my dad's books and belongings that went up there when he died and stayed there for years. In statis. Undealt with. But when we had builders round to do some work on the downstairs, they pointed out that the upstairs of the house was struggling with the sheer weight of the stuff in the loft. So, I had to deal with the boxes I'd not looked as since dad died.
This year, I've had to deal with the mental load of my dad's death, which I'll deal with in another post, but it's made me think that we have mental lofts in our brains, which can sometimes be damaging us, and that sometimes it's better to just have a good clear out and to face up to the dark corners of our minds and houses.
