In those lucky years before my breakdown when I was unaware of anxiety and its impacts, I would have said that it was something that was primarily about the mind. One of the things that took me by surprise when I did start struggling with my mental health was the accompanying impact on my body. My legs will stiffen when I'm panicking and anxious, and start to feel quite 'fizzy'. Logically, my body is preparing itself to run away, but for the last couple of years I've found myself in this spiral of anxiety peaks and they are starting to take a toll on my bodily health. After a long time of concentrating on art/writing and research as ways to alleviate my mental struggles, I'm now coming round to the idea that working on my body, sleeping better, and eating better, as well as making me feel fitter and healthier might have an impact on my anxiety, in a good way.
