Time flies

Some thoughts around being the mum of a soon-to-be teenager and our speeded-up world and its impact on the environment.

Filling the unforgiving minute.

The TikTok kids they think they’re it.

They love the rush, the highs, the hits.

Filling each and every minute.

All knowing, but not knowing yet,

as we do, that they too, will get

left behind by this accelerated pace.

That leaves all in its unforgiving wake.

Minds scattered with no place, or space

to stop and pause, or contemplate.

The softness and slow grace

of a dandelion clock. Before it’s too late.
