A beginner's mindset

Over the last few weeks I've been inspired by two people reading poetry. The first was Harriet Tarlo when we did Beach of Dreams together. I've painted the Fitties innumerable times, but to hear it in words was to bring something different to the experience. The second was Gordon Wilson who read his poem about the old haven to me as we met to talk about my We Are Marshy Folk project. In my previous life I was a journalist and writer, but it's something that's taken a back seat as I concentrated on painting. It's been nice to feel inspired, and also practise what I talk about in my workshops, that it's the process of creation that's important, not the outcome. So, I'm enjoying a beginners' mindset and learning something new with trying my hand at not-really-poems! x
